Roquefort
What is Roquefort Cheese?
Roquefort is a renowned French blue cheese made from raw sheep's milk. It holds a protected designation of origin (PDO) status for its exclusive production in the designated region. Aged for three to five months in limestone caves at Roquefort-sur-Soulzon, it earns distinction as the "King of Cheeses" or the "Cheese of Kings" in France, though these titles are sometimes attributed to other cheeses.
What Does Roquefort Cheese Taste Like?
Roquefort cheese is tangy, creamy and slightly moist with crumbly texture. It boasts a distinct flavour due to the use of Penicillium roqueforti mould. The exterior of the cheese is edible and slightly salty. Roquefort pairs well with crusty bread, fruits, and sweet wines.
