Amul Gouda produced by Gujarat Cooperative Milk Marketing Federation (Amul) is a mildly ripened cheese inspired by the Dutch cheese of the same variety. It is made from pasteurized cow's milk and is famous for its delicate mild fruity flavour and sweet taste. It is rich in calcium, conjugated linoleic acid (CLA) and is anti-cariogenic. The cheese is suitable for lactose intolerant people.
Gouda cheese can be consumed both as a table and dessert cheese. But remember to remove the thin shrink wrapped film. It is best enjoyed with fruit and wine, sandwiches, desserts, dark bread and salad.
